Exploring the World & Making Sacrifices!
I can name a list of things that I do daily which makes my life more meaningful and gives me more purpose, but traveling has got to be on the top of the list. If I wasn’t able to travel I wouldn’t enjoy life as much. I wouldn’t be able to explore other cultures, and appreciate the things I have, and that don’t have. I wouldn’t have the excitement of connecting more with more people around the world, learning new things outside my comfort zone, and building my vision that God has gave me. But being able to travel has required me to make some sacrifices.

Making scarifies to do the things you love can be time consuming. For me it was sacrificing my finances, my time, other hobbies, and work to be able to fund my travel. The sacrifices of always working overtime at my job so I can trade shifts with others to be able to travel or be off for the mini trip to explore the world. The sacrifices of initially accepting a low paying job, dedicating my time to the job , and deciding to return my car after an accident to not payout more on expenses, just to be able to get a glimpse of paradise. How about the difficulties of juggling two jobs and rushing to get to another job that pays higher so I can pay my bills. And that’s where it all began, but now I can officially say after years of working in the airlines industry i’m finally getting the pay I deserve. Previously, having two jobs was always an requirement for me just to be able to afford everything. Now it just provides me with additional income for my desire to travel. But adding my passion for travel made it a necessity. I must say that it is all worth it to be able to travel the world, make new memories, meet new people, learn and grow, and to thank God for what I have an don’t have. It’s a blessing in it all and it gives my life more meaning!
A lot of people may be wondering how am I able to travel so many places within a year, and take the time off to travel. If your wondering how I am able to go to these luxury places without making a lot of money, It has everything to do with the job that I selected to be able to travel. My job at the American Airlines allows employees discounted flights and standby flights where sometimes I only have to pay taxes! Yes the international flights are more risky, but I usually plan ahead of time to make sure I get to a destination. When I made the sacrifice of accepting this job, I had to make sure that I loved or at least liked the job since I was dedicating my time to it. In the past I did not have an option to choose the places I would like to work because the reality was that I just needed a job, no matter what it was or how low it paid. I just had to accept it. I had to sacrifice it to make that choice now. I realize that some people don’t have the option to choose the type of job they like, similar to me in the past. But soon you will be able to have that choice. It may be a difficult choice because you may have to decide to accept the job you enjoy when your situation or finances barely allows you to choose the specific job you want. You will have to have faith, and push to make it happen!
There is a time and season for everything. This was my season to make that decision. There is a benefit in the risk I took and the choices I am making now. Between the amazing flight benefits of the job, health care, and also the policies regarding trading shifts, it is where I would have chosen to work regardless if there was a barrier between the income. You all may know that I love fashion and designing clothes, but I also love working in the airline industry and helping customers, and assisting with the operations. Sometimes its a breeze and it doesn’t even feel like work. I know that in life sometimes you have to have patience and work hard until you get to a place in your life where you find the “perfect” job. And that’s where I am now. I am not saying that this job is perfect in every way, but it provides me with the benefits to get to where I want to be and travel. And that’s what I am willing to sacrifice to enjoy more of life and travel more of the world.
& Who’s to say how long these benefits will last or if I will always be with the same company. But I do know traveling will ALWAYS be in my future and I will always have a job that will contribute to my traveling in some kind of way. My plan is to enjoy it while it is still here! Hopefully you will also be able to do what you love, explore the world, and make the right sacrifices because that’s what we are here for!
